The High Atlas

Leaving the Mountain Village

Whilst in Morroco we went on a 2 day mountain trek up the High Atlas by a town called Imlil. We stayed overnight in a house in a mountain village nestled down one of the valleys. I'd not taken anthing to wash with (not even toothpaste) as had thought we were staying in some mountain shack on the top somewhere. This place, apparently was the only house in the village with running water, electricity and a toilet (french style squat), specialy built for tourists. Though we did notice TV aerials on some of the other houses. Electricity was on the way though, as on the way we passed the varous paraphenalia associated with its coming; poles and the holes for them.

This picture was taken in the morning as we trekked out fo the village on the way back. Incidentally the lunches we had on the way up and down were amongst the best food we ate whilst in Morocco. The cook really was good.
