GP urged to boycott the NHS data spine

GPs and their families urged to boycott NHS 'spine' - specifically this bit

"Last week’s local medical committees’ conference voted in favour of aproposal to advise GPs to consider withdrawing from the spine afterhearing about access to the personal demographics service (PDS) whichholds demographic data on every patient in England."

The PDS hold address details. Now unless I'm very much mistaken if you enter the search criteria required for these details to come back i.e. name, address, postcode etc into a website that interfaces with the phonebook then you also get just about the same data back. no one audits that. At least with the spine there are some safeguards.

Then of course we have the electoral rolls which are just about sold all over the shop and I'm not even mentioning google...
