Hesperian : what is it then?
A Martian Epoch!
|
The geology of the Planet Mars is divided into three main Epochs (or ages):
- Amazonian 0Ga - 1.8Ga
- Hesperian 1.8Ga - 3.5Ga
- Noachian 3.5Ga - 4.6Ga
Ga = 1 Billion years
It was during the upper Hesperian that layered deposits were put down in the Valles Marineris
rift valley (pictured above).
Now you know.
