Interactive Multimedia Systems
- Theoretical and practical issues involved in the design, implementation
and evaluation of interactive multimedia systems. An appraisal of
design frameworks; design of the interactive and presentation layers;
hypermedia navigation; text, graphics, animation video design and
integration; evaluation of current tools and techniques; developments
in virtual reality. Evaluation: formative and summative.
Group Project: Design & Implement an Interactive guide to
good Website design.
Object Orientated Programming and Program Design
- An introduction to programming within an Object-Oriented environment
(Eiffel). Covered the concepts of Class, Object, Inheritance,
Polymorphism, Design by Contract.
Independant Assignments in Object-Orientated programming using Eiffel.
Advanced Object Orientated Languages
- Studied and compared the languages C++, Eiffel, Smalltalk and Self.
Independant assignmemt using Java.
Networks and Communications
- The OSI model, the Internet, communications protocols, Ethernet,
TCP/IP.
Independant Assignments: Novell Netware administration and Website
construction.
Systems Analysis and Design
- Business organisation, EDI systems, SSADM V.4 and DSDM methods.
Group Project: Systems Analysis using SSADM v.4 methods
Computer Architecture
- The Von Neumann cycle and Operating Systems.
Independant Assignment: Write a program in Assembly language.
Independant Project
An exploration into Website design and implementation.
